As by tradition every year, on the 28th and 29th of November in the heart of Islamabad, EDI brought together the largest gathering, nearly an estimate of more than two thousands of attendees as students, entrepreneurs, educators, innovators and national leaders under one roof. Everyone who attended stepped forward to contribute in fostering the progression of entrepreneurship in Pakistan. The two day event primarily focused and discoursed around entrepreneurship from the aspect of veterans, educators and women’s businesses and exploring areas of possibility in new ventures.
The conference commenced with the inaugural address by the Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed. He spoke on how academia could play a significant role in the prosperity of economy with the help of the entrepreneurship education in Pakistan. The Director General of Human Development,Orya Maqbool Jan joined in. His address was very insightful as he educated the attendees about the various roles performed by our Prophet (S.A.W) as an entrepreneur. The Chief Commercial Officer at PTCL; Adnan Shahid shared his years filled with entrepreneurship knowledge in addition to the significance of digitizing the business. Zeasth Adnan, our first woman speaker, the founder of Branding Bees and the co-founder and CEO of Zee Social. Zeasth stressed on the journey taken by all women entrepreneurs. A rapid fire round was moderated by Khurram Zafar.
Celebrated artist, extraordinary singer and creator of Burka Avenger, Haroon Rashid was invited to talk about the similarities of an artist to an entrepreneur.
Mentorship sessions were hosted to allow participants to interact and communicate their ideas.
Marvi Memon was also present as she created awareness about the multiple initiatives currently undertaken by the government to help promote and boost entrepreneurship culture in Pakistan. Luqman Afzal, one of the ultimate success stories of Islamabad shed light on his life’s journey from establishing a small khokha to the grand Monal in Pir Sohawa.
A wide array of food delicacies were served in the food court where people took a break to refresh and recharge.
The award ceremony for the ambassadors of LCL concluded the conference on high spirits as Waqar Ali Shah of PTCL and Raza Saeed of PakWheels gave away shields and tablets sponsored by PTCL.
